1. New pattern instructions for the 1860 Leafy Garden Throw.
Due to a publishing error the some of the Tumbling Leaf instructions are incorrect. I've included new instructions below, including a diagram. However if you would prefer to download and save a copy to your own computer to save and/or print, you can download a word version copy here.
Project 1860 – Lacy Leaf Throw (page 44) corrections – including method, diagram and abbreviations.
METHOD
The number of segments to this throw should contain:
- 5 TUMBLING LEAF PANELS
- 8 OPENWORK INSERTIONS
- 4 GODMOTHER’S EDGINGS
MAKING UP [in order]
- Knit 5 tumbling leaf panels first. Press each one carefully.
- Sew knitted and pressed lengths of insertions to each side of each panel remembering to make sure everything is of the same LENGTH.
- Sew knitted insertions to top and bottom of Lacy Leaf Throw, again insuring that these insertions correspond to the WIDTH of the throw.
- Sew knitted Godmother’s edging to all four outside edges of throw making sure that the lengths and widths correspond to the lengths and widths of the throw.
MAKING UP - Press all knitted segments carefully and sew in this order:
- Sew an openwork insertion to each side of each panel [6 in all].
- Sew an openwork insertion to the top and bottom of the bedcover.
- Press.
- Sew on the knitted Godmother’s edgings to all four sides of the throw.

There are five panels to the throw: Each panel contains four leaves alternating with five leaves set out in 29 rows. [More width can be added to each panel by increasing the multiples. Length is according to taste]
I have used multiples of 20+19+2 stitches [the 2 stitches being edge stitches]
Cast on 81 stitches. Knit one row.
